Paint vs. Stain: How Do You Choose?
March 2, 2021Three Situations When You Should Hire a Professional Painter
March 16, 2021Whether you are just getting started in the painting world or you are familiar with all the intricacies that interior painting brings along with it, there are a few essential tools every painter needs. From extension poles to pants, these pieces of equipment will make your painting project smoother and more simple.
Adjustable Roller Frame
If you find yourself painting interior walls or hallways, an adjustable roller frame is one of the most practical and logical choices of tools. The adjustable feature of many roller frames allows you to use different sizes of rollers and, thus, use the same roller for a variety of projects and surfaces.
Adjusting your roller frame to a larger size will allow you to cut down the time you spend painting, sometimes even cutting the time in half.
Extension Pole
If you plan on doing any painting in areas that have ceilings or high areas that you need to reach, an extension pole is an excellent tool that will save you time and effort. In essence, the average extension pole makes you a few feet taller than your normal self, while smaller extension poles are perfect for tight spots and corners.
If you are painting interiors that are extra tall, not using an extension pole might prevent you from painting certain spots at all. When necessary, combining a ladder or stepladder with an extension pole will help you reach the majority of tall areas you plan on painting.
Extension Ladder
Similar to the benefits that the extension pole provides to you, most notably giving you a greater range to paint, the extension ladder allows you to reach higher locations without putting yourself in danger. When you combine the extension ladder with the extension pole, you add even more accessibility to the area that you are painting.
If you are considering investing in an extension ladder, think about whether you will use it again down the line for painting, as well as for other tasks. When you maintain extension ladders properly, they can last for decades, or even your entire life, if you keep them safe from the elements.
Painter’s Tape
In most cases, painter’s tape will save you a lot of time and effort on your interior painting project, thanks to its versatility and, most importantly, how it protects trim. While painter’s tape is not necessary in all cases, it is essential if you want to maximize the efficiency of your painting project and protect your walls from any paint splatters.
Sandpaper
For smooth surfaces and making paint adhere better to walls, sandpaper is an irreplaceable tool in your interior painting toolbox. Owning sandpaper with different levels of grit is also important if you are doing multiple painting projects, as these often serve different purposes.
Painter’s Pants
From projects that will take a few hours to projects that will take a few days, painter’s pants will make any painting activity simpler and more enjoyable than regular pants. If you plan on painting in the future, painter’s pants are also a good investment to keep your clothes clean and stain-free.
