Matthew’s Painting’s 2023 Paint It Forward Winner Announced

My grandma lost my grandpa in 2013. When I was about 15, she wanted to try to meet some new people. She met a guy and started dating him. They were together until my Junior year. He struggled with mental health issues and committed suicide in front of her. She struggled to keep her house and property managed after that and her electric in her home really needed redone.

She met a guy named David when I was a Senior. They got married and moved to Michigan where his family lived. She moved all the way there, sold her home and was treated very poorly by his family. Her and David decided it was best to move back to Indiana. They were on a very tight budget, but found a home just outside Palestine. It looked nice. They skipped an inspection because they did not realize the importance of that.

After moving in they realized the roof was leaking, the fireplace didn’t work and many other things were wrong. They are working on fixing up their place, but on a very tight income, and my grandma being legally blind, it has been very hard. They tried to paint and it doesn’t look as good as they would like. I think they deserve more. If they are chosen I can get you their home address. Thank you.
