Exterior Trim: Little Details with Impressive Appeal
June 10, 2015
Anyone who has spent more than a few seasons in Indiana knows that the weather can be…unpredictable to say the least. And they’ve also heard that “it’s not the heat, it’s the humidity” more times than they can count. When the unbearably humid days inevitably come, people will be looking for a nice escape. Rooms that cater to hobbies and interests will keep people home and allow them to beat the heat while still spending quality time with the family. Here are some of the most popular area trends for specialty rooms.
Home Theater
We encounter a lot of homeowners who want to dedicate a space to watching movies on their own big screen. The rise of individual streaming services has changed the way in which people discover and watch new movies. People are embracing bringing nearly any movie imaginable to their TV by making it an incredible opportunity for entertaining family and friends. Choosing interior colors to closely mimic a movie theater atmosphere adds to the aesthetic appeal and makes it that much more alluring to guests. Using darker paints will keep the focus on the big screen and ensure that everyone is wrapped up in the action.
Game Room
Gatherings with family and friends in the sunshine can be incredibly fun and memorable. But it never hurts to have a backup plan that brings the party inside; just in case someone gets a little too much sun or a bunch of mosquitos decide to join the fun. Having a game room can be much more involved than simply placing a folding table in a room for cards, or setting up a PlayStation. Using high energy interior colors such as bright green, orange or red can keep people stimulated and the conversation flowing. Afraid of a shockingly red room? Try experimenting with a paint color using accent walls to see how it looks. A little bit may go a long way!
Garage
Maybe it’s only a Midwest thing, but we’ve seen our fair share of “garage gatherings” over time. While some people simply move a car out and catch some shade with the door open, others have the extra space to have their own bar and TV in the garage. Does this sound like a quick and easy option for another gathering spot? Just make sure to cover the basics. Enlist a professional to pressure wash any fluids off of the garage floor before getting started.
