Picture-perfect house paint or stain is a must when selling your home
March 9, 2016Customers: They’re the real stars of customer satisfaction
May 10, 2016We use our smartphones for lots of tasks and tools these days, with apps that transform them into alarm clocks, measuring tapes, flashlights and more. The Matthews Painting team is always looking at innovation in the industry, and incorporating the best ideas into our traditional quality, service and value, so we use our mobile devices to help – and so can you, with apps to help you plan your paint project. Good news for our new Goshen, Indiana and Columbia City, Indiana customers.
One cool tool is the ColorSnap® Visualizer available from Sherwin-Williams. This app for iPhone and Android helps you find inspiration in the colorful world around you. Whether you’re moved by spring flowers in the natural world, or by the color of your best friend’s shirt, you can capture that color and then explore how it might work in your home. ColorSnap® finds the precise match available in the Sherwin-Williams palate and, just like the paint chips in the store, the full range of similar possibilities.
Once you’ve identified that color, the app showcases how that will look on your walls. It’s a snap to turn your saved color choices into completed rooms, simply using the images you have stored. Comparing the different options is fun but the real value is in the time and money you save while achieving that perfect look. The paint calculator makes it easy to know how just much paint you’ll need, with custom settings for textured surfaces, crown molding, baseboards and other don’t-forget-the-door surfaces.
At Matthews, we are experts at exterior deck surfaces, so we’re happy that the calculator has a setting for decks that reminds you to include the rails too! It’s one of many painting apps offered by companies, but there are other sources of app tools to help complete a project. Among them are the iHandy set of measuring tools. It’s an all-in-one tool app that will turn your mobile device into a ruler, level, protractor and more for measuring angles and distances. There’s even TaskOne, the tiny set of tools shown in the above photo that fit inside your device! OK, TaskOne isn’t an app, but there are countless “tools” so be sure to explore them and choose a reliable toolkit!
Even a good organizing tool or shopping-list app will help to plan the job into your schedule, or create the list you need to get it right the first time and avoid unnecessary and frustrating trips to the store. We also use them to help stay connected with our customers and keep track of preferences and job specs.
When our job is done, we’d love to see technology transform your experience into helpful information that you share with the community! Customer reviews are one of the best ways to describe how your power wash or your paint project went, and we invite all of our clients to explore Angie’s List for more information. List members can post reviews, but there’s tips for anyone.
One last thing: Technology has changed the way we work, but it’s also changed the way we hire at Matthews Painting – and we are!
